We are so exicted to announce that the long awaited anthology album of NL Dennis & the Thunderballs is out now on streaming platforms. The CDs have gone to print and we should have them in the first week of August when we will get them signed and out in the mail to all you blessed people who preordered the album. In the meantime, do check it out on the streaming platform of your choice.

Below are the liner notes from the album:

After recording with some of the greats of reggae (like Desmond Dekker & Toots Hibbert) in the 1970s and 80s, NL Dennis became a celebrated vocalist in Jamaica but was still relatively unknown in the international scene. In the 1990s, my father, keyboardist and songwriter Peter Eisenkramer, followed his ears to find Dennis singing in a cafe in Negril. The two struck up an immediate friendship and went on to produce a series of recordings under the IMPRESSIVE label. These songs were recorded in a variety of humble settings, like bedrooms and hotel rooms, and then produced in Peter’s home studio in Vermont, USA.

For the first time, a full collection of Dennis’ original songs has been curated, remastered and is here in the anthology album ‘The Golden Voice of Jamaica.’ The tracks run the range of Dennis career, starting with ‘Spelling Reggay’ originally recorded in the 1970s in Jamaica with Sly & Robbie followed by the IMPRESSIVE era recordings featuring Peter’s production and later the Impressive Band with musicians Jervis Steeling and Capel Findley. Ending with the 2017 and 2018 releases ‘We Run Things’ and ‘Start All Over’ recorded in Vermont, USA at Guilford Sound studio.

Truly, Dennis’ ‘golden voice’ has been a soulful treasure in the world of reggae music since his very first recording dates; I have been listening to some of these recordings since my childhood. Now, I’m thrilled to share this definitive collection of his music on this record.

Yours in Reggae,

Joel ‘Veena’ Eisenkramer
