the
Thunderballs
Roots reggae duo
The Thunderballs are a roots reggae two-man band featuring NL Dennis, premier singer-songwriter of Jamaica, and Peter Eisenkramer, keyboardist, vocalist and long-time Vermont resident.

Dennis and Peter are tremendously appealing vocalists, and the band's performance is uptempo and high-energy. Dennis’s razor-sharp rhythm guitar and Peter’s bass/keyboard and vocal harmony create the sound. This drummer-less two-man-band's reggae performance has an infectious rhythm, and those who aren't up on their feet “dance in their seats”, as Dennis observes.
Always a family-friendly performance.
The Thunderballs feature NL Dennis, one of Jamaica’s finest singer-songwriters, and Peter Eisenkramer, keyboardist, vocalist and musical arranger and producer.
NL Dennis is a native and resident of Jamaica, West Indies. A world-class vocalist and composer of some very catchy and tuneful reggae songs, Dennis has long been a well-known and popular performer in Western Jamaica.
From the time, as an elementary school kid, he won the all-school (400 + students) singing contest, and went to Kingston, the capital of Jamaica, to sing for the Prime Minister and other government dignitaries, Dennis has been a force in Jamaican music.
One of Dennis’s regular childhood activities was climbing coconut trees to secure one of the family’s staple foods. He was known as an excellent climber, but one day became careless and fell from a great height to the ground. He went to a heavenly place of white light and met a brother he never knew he had, but was told it was not his time: he had to go back. When he came back to his body and regained consciousness, he had an idea and soon composed his first song, “Right Beside You”, which remains in the repertoire to this day.
While still in his teens, Dennis began working in Kingston recording studios as a vocalist with “The Thunderballs”, a three-man vocal group. He recorded with Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare, the drum-bass duo who were a seminal force in the origins of reggae music in Jamaica. It’s been said that Bob Marley himself, somewhat older and in the beginning stages of success with his group The Wailers, looked in on one session and praised Dennis’s vocals, comparing him to the great Toots Hibbard of Toots and the Maytals.
Peter Eisenkramer is a born musician whose journey has taken him from singing 4-part harmony in acoustic folk groups, to playing B3 organ in psychedelic rock bands in California, to arranging, recording and producing reggae artists in Jamaica. Also a singer and songwriter, Peter is a dynamic artist with a deep understanding of melody, harmony and catchy and positive lyrics.
Peter has composed some songs which manage to capture the scope and story of his own personal music. These songs, carefully arranged and recorded track-by-track by Peter in his home studio, contain timeless pop melodies conveying his sensitive and illuminating perceptions on today's world. Some of these tunes are performed live with Dennis as part of the Thunderballs show.
Peter and Dennis met years ago, one balmy night in Negril, Jamaica. They quickly became friends and musical partners, working with other Jamaican musicians and producing several albums of original reggae music. In 2014 Dennis secured his travel visa, and now moves freely between Jamaica and the U.S.A.
The Thunderballs are available for weddings, house parties, and functions of all sorts. Always a family-friendly performance. Book now for next season, mid-May through mid-September.
